The Story of Wild Bill's

Wild Bill’s, based in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, began its existence in 1955 as Balwell’s Butcher Shop.  Balwell’s served the finest and freshest meats in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.  Over the next several decades, Balwell’s developed a stellar reputation as a company that combined excellent products with extremely friendly service.  Balwell’s had become very well established within its local market and the company continued to succeed. 
       
As time went on and the economic landscape changed, the company had to evolve to meet the changing times.  In 1983 Balwell’s began making the best meat snacks (predominantly beef jerky in a variety of flavors and packaging configurations) money could buy.  The company became known as Wild Bill’s Foods, Inc. in 1988.  Over the years Wild Bill’s Foods developed a reputation in the meat snack business of producing products that even the most discriminating meat snack connoisseurs could appreciate and enjoy. 

In 1997 Wild Bill’s Foods was purchased by Hatfield Quality Meats (and now falls under Clemens Family Corporation); this venture brought two companies with similar business philosophies under the same corporate umbrella.  This was a critical juncture in Wild Bill’s history as the organization now had access to an extensive array of resources that helped the company continue to grow.  Wild Bill's continues to be committed to producing the best products and providing the best customer service in the meat snack industry.
